Use Case
Demand Planning & Forecast Collaboration
The Planning Challenge
Medicom manufactures and distributes a wide range of disposable protective products used in healthcare, dental, industrial, and hygiene environments.
Across Europe, the company manages a complex supply chain that includes:
- More than 2,400 SKUs
- Multiple manufacturing and distribution sites
- B2B sales through specialized distributors
- Customers across healthcare, industry, and hygiene sectors
As the organization expanded, forecasting processes became increasingly complex.
Demand signals were fragmented across markets, and forecasting activities relied heavily on spreadsheets, making it difficult to maintain a consistent view of demand across departments.
Sales teams, supply chain planners, and finance teams needed a shared reference to guide production planning, procurement decisions, and inventory management.
At the same time, demand volatility across certain product categories created additional pressure on supply chain coordination.
To maintain service levels while controlling inventory exposure, Medicom needed to structure a collaborative demand planning process capable of aligning commercial and operational decisions.
Results at a Glance
- +7 points improvement in forecast accuracy
- A single forecast shared across all departments
- Stronger alignment between sales, supply chain, and finance
- Improved visibility on demand across product families and markets
The Transformation
Medicom partnered with Sunstice to structure and digitalize its demand planning process across European operations.
The organization first formalized a collaborative demand planning framework connecting sales, marketing, finance, and supply chain teams.
This process was then supported by the Sunstice platform, replacing spreadsheet-based forecasting with a centralized planning environment.
Today, demand forecasts are generated using statistical models and consolidated through a structured monthly planning cycle. The platform enables teams to:
- Consolidate demand forecasts across product families and markets
- Monitor forecast accuracy and performance indicators
- Identify demand deviations through automated alerts
- Align operational decisions across departments
Instead of fragmented forecasts maintained by different teams, the organization now operates with a single shared demand signal guiding planning decisions across the supply chain.
Customer Perspective
“Demand planning gave us a single reference point for the entire organization. Today every department aligns its decisions on the same forecast.”
